Well, Dead Man's has been re-opened for a couple of weeks, after hitting a couple of weather-related road blocks.  So far this year, things are getting off to a pretty slow start, which was expected, which is why we currently have shortened "winter hours" for the store.  But it does seem that things may be picking up ever-so-slightly, so maybe that will all start to turn around soon enough.

While we were on break at the beginning of the year, we spent most of our "vacation" time either iced in at home or at the store rearranging.  Because we don't get a ton of foot traffic, we're going to start focusing more on promoting the business online, attending vendor shows, etc.  To help facilitate this, we have divided off the back section of the store to create an office and workshop.  I'm hoping it will help me be more productive while I'm hanging out at the store to have a place to work on making products and other store-related tasks.

In the midst of all of this, we also came up with some new products ideas, some of which we'll be rolling out in the not-too-distant future.  I was able to get started on one new idea though...a new line of hand-made rag dolls (of course with an off-beat element) called "Retched Rag Dolls."  (And yes...we're aware that wretched is spelled with a "W," but we're going for the alliteration).  Here are the first few...

Each one will be unique and will come with its own name.  (L to R above: Iris, Lenore, & Emma).  Matt designed these super-cute tags for me, so that I have something to write their names on...

And of course, I also did a little knitting.  These are so soft and warm!

So all in all, things are moving right along here at Dead Man's!  As business picks up, and we have more funds to work with, we're hoping to be able to implement some fun new ideas.  We'll keep you posted!
